Much-needed Vacation

So. I actually got back from Door County on Thursday. I was going to post about it on Thursday night but decided to watch Men in Black instead! Then I was going to post on Friday, but I took my little brother to the pool and then ate cookies and watched Enchanted instead. I was going to post on Saturday but I went to a baseball game instead. I was going to post yesterday but the electricity was out and didn’t come back until early this morning. So, I decided that instead of waiting for tonight when most certainly another excuse would keep me from posting, that I might as well post now!

It was a fantastic trip! We all decided that it was by far, the best time! My grandma and aunt took Abby and I and we drove up to Door County and stayed at a bed and breakfast for three days.

Okay so I know that I RARELY post pictures of myself.. So you really have no way of knowing when I got my hair cut. I got it cut on Monday. Yeah, it looks good. Yeah, I love it.

Yeah. We’re awesome!

I just love my hair. It’s so short now and flippy. I was so excited about it that I looked at myself in every single reflection. My aunt and grandma thought that was funny. Abby just thought I was being self-absorbed… heh heh.

We went to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel the first night. It was good.

We also went to this really good pizza place in Fish Creek. I love pepperoni pizza.

We went on a trolley tour.

Sadly, we didn’t visit any beaches.

Everything is so beautiful there.

You can rent kayaks and canoes and water skis and go out to these islands. I think this is one of the Strawberry Islands. It’s about a 45-minute kayak ride out there.

This is the third time we have been to Door County. Every time we go, we go to this restaurant. And every time we go to this restaurant we take a picture in this big chair.

We had a Dollar Tree shopping spree. Abby’s like, “Claire let’s put all of our stuff together so Nana can’t see who’s buying more!” She had 9. I had 5. Among our “treasures” we had fake nails, the plastic bracelets we are wearing in the picture (you can change what it says! O_o), and make up.

We watched Rock of Ages the second night and made rock signs and sang old rock songs for the rest of the trip! 😉

One of us was more into it than the other one… that one is generally the weirder one also. She’s also the one who thinks she should live in a Broadway musical because then when she breaks into song so will EVERYONE ELSE!!!! Oh wait. That she is me… 🙂

That she is awesome. But truthfully, Abby and I were discussing it and we decided that I need to live in a musical because then instead of getting awkward stares when I start singing, everyone will just start singing and dancing along with me! It’s a great idea. I wouldn’t mind living in Enchanted either. I mean they all go singing and dancing through Central Park. That is AWESOME! Why isn’t my life like that? Why isn’t my life like a movie? *sigh*

Back to the singing thing. I am notorious for singing in my family. Whenever we are in the car and listening to the radio, I can sing like every song. Every time a song starts to play I’m like, “OH! I love this song!” and then I start to sing it. If you don’t know that I’m like that, then we haven’t hung out enough. The other day we were at a baseball game and I could sing all the songs they played. Anyways, thanks to the movie, my new favorite song is Every Rose Has Its Thorn. But we have the Miley Cyrus version on iTunes so that’s what I listen to. I’m not a big fan of Miley Cyrus but she sounds really good in this song! 🙂

So, that’s my week! 🙂 What have you all been up to? What are your favorite songs? Do you want to live in a musical too? Or is that just something special about me…? (I’m thinking that’s a special Claire thing… oh well. )

Virginia!!!

Okay so before this past week, I NEVER understood why people liked to go to Virginia.

I seriously thought that it was all like old battlefields and seriously: WHY would I want to go there??

I now understand.

It is beautiful there! There are mountains everywhere. And it smells so fresh and nature-ish. It is so different compared to the flatness of Illinois. I just loved it there!

I really wish I could have found my camera because everything there is picture-worthy.

This past weekend consisted of limited sleep, too much food, and running .49 of a mile. And lots of driving. As in, 30-plus hours of driving.

But it was so worth it. And what with our multiple movies, multiple snacks, packs of gum, stacks of cds, and breathtaking views…it wasn’t really all that bad! 🙂 And there was the anticipation. After all,  we were going to visit the awesomest college in the world. Of course, I didn’t really realize that until we pulled into town and saw the snowboarding slope up on the mountain. And then, Friday when we toured the place, I had no doubt left inside of me.

And then after the tour, I planned out my school for the rest of my high school years and then plotted how to get on to the college’s NCAA women’s XC team! 🙂 I’ve got to get my time down to at least 21 minutes for a 5k and then 24 minutes for a 6k. Faster would always be better of course! 🙂

Anyways, Saturday, I got to hang out with my aunt, uncle and cousin who are all really awesome. I also got to meet, for the first time, my cousin’s fiance who is really nice and funny. I’m glad they are getting married! 🙂 My aunt and uncle took us to Washington DC which was so awesome! I couldn’t believe that I was there! It was so cool.

And then that night, Abby and I went to a dance at my cousin’s college. Everyone there was really nice and we got to get all dressed up. We danced most of the dances which was fun and there was a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!!!!!! And then afterwards, we went to TGI Fridays and got food. We were up until 1 and then crashed at my cousin’s dorm and slept until 11.

And then we drove and drove and drove home.

We got home this morning at one. I had fallen asleep in the car so when we got home I just grabbed my pillows and blanket and went upstairs and fell back asleep.

Today, I did school and ran 3.1 miles in 23:15. Not exactly my best time ever and I felt horrible through the whole thing…but…I guess I can’t really complain because I did over-indulge quite a bit this past weekend. I will get back to normal soon enough. And school is almost over!

I can’t believe that I made it through freshman year! Although everyone says that sophomore year is the worst…

I love vacation so much. Of course, the minute we get home from vacation we are back to our busy lives but it is so worth it! I went on one run the whole week!! My Garmin is amazingly awesome! However, on my next scheduled running day (Wednesday) I slit my foot on a rock at the beach so i couldn’t run for the rest of the week. Bla bla bla… 🙂

The weather was mighty cold!! And breezy! But that didn’t stop us! well, mostly Peter, James, and I. We are lion-hearted!! 🙂 Peter explained to Dad when asked if he wanted to go to the beach with James: “NO! It’s no fun without Claire!”  Whoops! Let me go deflate my head!! 😀 Nothing like THAT to make a girl feel wanted and loved!!

I stink at ping-pong. But John and Abby are the reigning champions! John is very proud of that and wanted me to add that in here!! 🙂

A Wonderful Start to Labor Day Weekend

My wonderful start to Labor Day Weekend started with an 8-mile run with my mom. She rode her bike and carried all our water bottles, snacks, etc. I ran. It was HOT. It was LONG. It was HARD. Harder than I had expected actually!! But it was fun.

I also got to use my Garmin for the first time!! It was so so cool!!! But i couldn’t really figure out how to use it so that kinda stunk. All in its time though! My ♥ rate was at 190 for the majority of the run…i am not sure if that’s good or bad or what… if you know you can tell me. 🙂

I was insanely tired out for the rest of the day! But i got to go shopping and got a REALLY cute shirt and a REALLY cute skirt. And other stuff too!! But those 2 things were my favorite!!

I packed for vacation. i am the definition of over-packer.

Not actually me...

So when i pack, i pack and then i come back later and repack. for example, today i couldn’t decide if i should pack this shirt or that shirt so i packed both. That actually happened a lot of times… so i came back later and repacked my suitcase and realized I had packed 10 shirts!! This is a 6-day trip.

If you want to hear other packing stories about me you can ask my sister!

well…this will be my last post for a while. I packed my camera cord with my suitcase in hopes that i might be able to post on vacation!! But, we’ll see.

I’m back!!!

Sorry I haven’t written for a couple of days.. i do have a life youknwo!! 😛 Actually, school started so… 😛

Today, i was supposed to run 7 miles..but…since my Garmin has come…and then been shipped back(:( ) I have felt VERY unmotivated to run… It’s kind of awful! Everytime i am mapping out a run or running i get so ANGRYand start thinking all, “I could have my garmin right now and then i wouldn’t HAVE to map out this run…” or something along those lines!! I guess i am being a BIT of a brat about it… Abby is FED UP with me talking about it and she CAN’T wait for it to be here either… she told me, “Well, i would prefer that you talk about how much you love your Garmin rather than here you complaining about it not being here yet..” I have called their business like a million times. And after i called my mom said, “They would prolly be SO surprised to know that you are a 14-year-old…” heh-heh…WHOOPS!!! 🙂 But, once it gets here i will stop complaining…i COULD go on FOREVER!!! Like, for example, when i called them and they were gonna make me pay extra money even though it was THEIR mistake…

okay moving on! Last night, Abby and I talked for a REALLY long time and because i had water in my ear that wouldn’t come out(we went swimming at a friend’s house), I had to lay on my bed in this REALLY uncomfortable position!!! So at 11:30ish abby and i went in the basement. I was up past midnight and as i have said BEFORE… i am not quite myself when i don’t get enough sleep… today i am riding along on ym bike thinking about how pretty the day was and how we are so lucky to have bikes and jsut get ot hang out with our friends and have a (relatively) normal life…and then like 5 minutes later i was in an AWFUL mood. Right now, i’m good though.. 🙂

GUESS WHAT??!??!?? I got into Junior Band!!!!!! And I am 5th chair..which is good cause there are like 16 clarinetists. YAYAYAYAYAY! And so did my sister and my brother. My ONE friend got 2nd chair in clarinet(which is really good!)!!!! And my OTHER friend( i have many… :)) got into Symphonic Band which is the BEST band so I am REALLY proud of her!!! So, we are all happy about that!

Um um um… we are going n vacation NEXT week!!!! Which means we leave a week from tomorrow…don’t worry…i will (prolly) still be able to do posts!

And since i have run out of things to say (for now) and i want to go watch iRobot i am going to end the entry!

My Fun Life

Hi Everyone-

I had a great time in MI!!! I gave some wrong information here!! We didn’t go to the dunes!! We ended up going to Silver Beach in St. Joseph. It was really fun!! Like i had hoped…

 We were all SUPER tired from body-surfing!!! It was the PERFECT day for it though!!! Before we went to the beach we picked up 15 pounds of blueberries and then picked our own peaches.

For dinner, we went to Silver Beach Pizza Co. which we go to every year when we are on our annual vacation. Hint to all you people!! if you ever find yourself in St Joseph, MI it is definitely WORTH YOUR TIME to track down this pizza place (which is in an old train station building) because they have AMAZING pizza!!! I would know cause i have been going there for a LONG time!! 🙂

Apparently, other people like it too because we had reserve a spot 30 minutes before showing up at the restaurant and then we waited for 40 minutes before we actually got a table!!! 😛
