Much-needed Vacation

So. I actually got back from Door County on Thursday. I was going to post about it on Thursday night but decided to watch Men in Black instead! Then I was going to post on Friday, but I took my little brother to the pool and then ate cookies and watched Enchanted instead. I was going to post on Saturday but I went to a baseball game instead. I was going to post yesterday but the electricity was out and didn’t come back until early this morning. So, I decided that instead of waiting for tonight when most certainly another excuse would keep me from posting, that I might as well post now!

It was a fantastic trip! We all decided that it was by far, the best time! My grandma and aunt took Abby and I and we drove up to Door County and stayed at a bed and breakfast for three days.

Abby sitting out in the sun at the bed and breakfast. It is a beautiful place!

This is right outside of our rooms.

Okay so I know that I RARELY post pictures of myself.. So you really have no way of knowing when I got my hair cut. I got it cut on Monday. Yeah, it looks good. Yeah, I love it.

Yeah. We’re awesome!

I just love my hair. It’s so short now and flippy. I was so excited about it that I looked at myself in every single reflection. My aunt and grandma thought that was funny. Abby just thought I was being self-absorbed… heh heh.

We went to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel the first night. It was good.

We also got cotton candy…

We also went to this really good pizza place in Fish Creek. I love pepperoni pizza.

This is Sturgeon Bay.

We went on a trolley tour.

Sadly, we didn’t visit any beaches.

Everything is so beautiful there.

You can rent kayaks and canoes and water skis and go out to these islands. I think this is one of the Strawberry Islands. It’s about a 45-minute kayak ride out there.

This is the third time we have been to Door County. Every time we go, we go to this restaurant. And every time we go to this restaurant we take a picture in this big chair.

We had a Dollar Tree shopping spree. Abby’s like, “Claire let’s put all of our stuff together so Nana can’t see who’s buying more!” She had 9. I had 5. Among our “treasures” we had fake nails, the plastic bracelets we are wearing in the picture (you can change what it says! O_o), and make up.

We watched Rock of Ages the second night and made rock signs and sang old rock songs for the rest of the trip! πŸ˜‰

One of us was more into it than the other one… that one is generally the weirder one also. She’s also the one who thinks she should live in a Broadway musical because then when she breaks into song so will EVERYONE ELSE!!!! Oh wait. That she is me… πŸ™‚

That she is awesome. But truthfully, Abby and I were discussing it and we decided that I need to live in a musical because then instead of getting awkward stares when I start singing, everyone will just start singing and dancing along with me! It’s a great idea. I wouldn’t mind living in Enchanted either. I mean they all go singing and dancing through Central Park. That is AWESOME! Why isn’t my life like that? Why isn’t my life like a movie? *sigh*

This is also Sturgeon Bay.

Back to the singing thing. I am notorious for singing in my family. Whenever we are in the car and listening to the radio, I can sing like every song. Every time a song starts to play I’m like, “OH! I love this song!” and then I start to sing it. If you don’t know that I’m like that, then we haven’t hung out enough. The other day we were at a baseball game and I could sing all the songs they played. Anyways, thanks to the movie, my new favorite song is Every Rose Has Its Thorn. But we have the Miley Cyrus version on iTunes so that’s what I listen to. I’m not a big fan of Miley Cyrus but she sounds really good in this song! πŸ™‚

So, that’s my week! πŸ™‚ What have you all been up to? What are your favorite songs? Do you want to live in a musical too? Or is that just something special about me…? (I’m thinking that’s a special Claire thing… oh well. )

Part Uno

Dear DVD Release people-

My dad wants to see The Artist and he doesn’t want to wait until JUNE.

What is taking so long?

Please send my dad a complementary DVD of the movie or we will sue you for making us be patient in a world of ‘Here & Now’.

LoveΒ  Hate,

Claire

Ten minutes ago, Dad asked me to look up when The Artist came out on DVD cause he wants to see it.

I was like,”DAD!! Why does it take so long for movies to come out on DVD??”

I mean it’s already been in theaters for awhile so why do they have to wait until June to release it on DVD?Β It’s not like it takes super long for them to make a copy of a DVD, not with today’s technology!!

He goes, “CLAIRE!! Why does it take so long for movies to come out on DVD??”

I’m like, “I have no idea. I just asked you!”

He goes, “Well you should write a letter of complaint to them.”

So I did. Did you read it? It’s up at the top! It’s a great letter. Full of enthusiasm.

I haven’t gotten a reply yet.

Genetically Humorous

So today I have decided to talk about humor levels.

Okay, let me just say one thing before I begin this. I am not funny. At all. I know a few people who laugh at the “funny” things that I say. It’s a big ego boost for me but I have no idea why they are laughing. Just saying.

Let’s start with Peter. He is my youngest brother. Everyone thinks he is funny because he is so darn cute. He is funny. And cute. So, he has the whole cuteness factor going for him. Also, he is very smart for his age, so he says things that wouldn’t be funny except that he’s so young. Also, he’s kinda sarcastic which always strikes us as funny.

Next up is James. I think I shall call him the “Accidental Comedian”. He TRIES very hard to be funny and sometimes he is. But the times he is the most hilarious is when he isn’t even TRYING to be funny. Like when he fried rotten salami. Let me assure you that it was NOT funny at the time. At all. One tiny bit. It smelled SO gross and I was like, “James. Seriously. How could you NOT have known that was rotten?” Our kitchen, our family room, actually our whole house smelled like burnt oil and burnt rotten meat for the rest of the day. But, today I was laughing about it. See, when I laugh about this, he thinks I am making fun of him. I’m not. I’m just laughing cause what he did was so funny. I could tell you a million of these sorts of stories. But I won’t.

John is just funny. I have no idea how he does it. But he is hilarious. Of all of us, he is the one who can get us laughing the hardest. All my friends think he is hilarious. He always has funny things to say, funny stories to tell, jokes he heard “somewhere”. Seriously, the kid is a barrel of laughs. Am I jealous? Maybe a little. πŸ™‚

I am not funny. At all. I try to be funny. And I fail. Sometimes I can make people laugh when I do something stupid. But that’s purely accidental. But I’m not an accidental comedian like James, cause I don’t really do that many funny things. I think I’m hilarious. But I just have this weird sense of humor that only I understand. I do have some friends who think I’m hilarious. I love those friends.

Abby is funny. To me at least. She is sarcastic-like Peter. It cracks me up. She says the things that I’m thinking. She can make ANYTHING funny. On Sunday, we were really tired from our late-night festivities of the night before, so we were laying on our beds and she was reading me entries from my old diaries. She has a way of doing it that makes it really funny. Even the serious or “sad” stuff (because seriously what is serious or sad in the life of an 11-year-old girl…especially if that girl is me).

So, what can we conclude from this? Well have you ever heard of Mendelian Genetics?

It goes like this:

Okay let’s say that the gene for being uproariously funny is F. And so then the gene for being not even one tiny bit funny is f. Okay? So if a person had one F and one f, that means they are funny half the time. So, that’s my parents. They are each Ff.

So here’s my parent’s chart:

So, are you following me so far? That’s my parent’s genes up there. The four empty boxes are their “kids” (not yet born). The possibilities of gene mixes.

So, that’s the first mix of genes because you take the gene from the row and from the column. Get it? So the rest would fill out like this:

So, that’s how it goes. But, not necessarily in that order. See first, Abby was born. She’s an Ff.

And then John would go into FF and James would go into Ff. Another chart would be made and Peter would be an Ff. And what am I? ff.

See, mendelian genetics can explain anything.

And yes. I do think this is highly amusing.
